An Introduction

Alyssa and Amber

As cousins, we were forced into friendship by the nature of our close knit family. During these early years there were a lot of tears and arguments. Alyssa was so perfect in my eyes. So pretty, talented and obedient. I was the wild child with no sense of tact and a major problem with authority. In time, she tamed me (a bit) and introduced me to the finer things in life (BBC, vegetables, Indian food, Frank Sinatra and the J Crew catalog). I'm not sure what my influence did for her....maybe she will post next and let you know her side of the story?

Anyway, by the time junior high came around we are constantly begging our parents to drive us 45 minutes to the other one's house for weekend sleep overs, church dances and church camps! All of this time spent together were some of my favorite memories from my teen years. I will always remember the night we had a whipped cream fight and fell to the floor hysterically laughing every time we looked at the clock and it was 10 minutes after... 1:10, 2:10, 3:10.... maybe you had to be there? ;)

Time passed and we got married and moved and grew up... but we missed that childish side of ourselves that was allowed to indulge and be absolutely crazy! We missed dressing up like Nancy Drew and tip toeing through the neighborhood at night spying in the bushes (yes, pencil skirt, pumps and all).  This blog is our quest to do those little things again that shout to the world, "We don't take ourselves too seriously and we don't really care what you think!"

We will be blogging together about normal every day things like budgeting, cooking, mothering and marriage. But, each week, we will also be testing our creativity and sense of public shame by throwing in challenges that give the excuse just have fun. We will take turns picking our favorite movie, book or piece of art and will dress, eat, craft and play based upon that theme. Sound fun? Join us!

  1. the funny thing about that picture is I totally remember that day AND both of our outfits. I had just had my 101 dalmatians birthday party and got that shirt for a present. Those Easter dresses our moms made us wear were something else...

    1. Oh! I almost forgot! Amber definitely helped me to let go of a lot of my inhibitions and let my wild side out, much to the chagrin of my mother.:)
Some of the wonderful things I may never have experienced without Amber's influence are Collin Firth in Pride and Prejudice, buttery grilled cheese sandwiches, goat cheese, Loreena Mckennit and Anthropologie.
      Love you, Amber!
