Girls Just Want To Have Fun
Cinematic masterpiece its not, however the 1985 film "Girls Just Want to Have Fun" hits all the marks necessary for a great teen 80's film:
Cute, yet awkward main character:
Check
Best friend with a wild personality and fashion sense (I'm thinking of you, Duckie):
Check
Hunky dude who is selling himself short (shirtless at some point is always a plus):
Check
And, of course, the wealthy villain:
Check
Also, the requisite getting-even-with-the-bully scene:
check
As an added bonus this movie has 3 1/4 stars that went from child actor to recognizable adult actors.
Of course there's Sarah Jessica Parker in the lead role:
then
now
Helen Hunt as her best friend:
then
now
Shannen Doherty as the hunks kid sister:
then
now
Oh and the 1/4 of a recognizable adult star? Here he is- Jonathon Silverman.
then
now
If you're a fan of "Psych" you may know him as Lyin' Ryan from the episode where the famous "cuatros quesos dos fritos" originated.
You're welcome.
I rewatched this movie over the weekend and was reminded of how entertaining it is- for 80's teen movie fans and hecklers alike. Watch it! It's on Netflix!
